CRY Academy helps emerging writers elevate their skills and enhance their understanding of the writing and publishing industries. We do this through a combination of regular workshops, access to insights from industry experts, and a course titled Write To Be Heard. Like everything else CRY does, the priority is always on the emotional aspects of being a writer in addition to the technical elements.

With virtual and in-person sessions, we help emerging writers elevate their skills and enhance their understanding of the writing and publishing industries. We do this through a combination of regular workshops and access to insights from industry experts.
In addition, we offer workshops of the same title for Middle/High School and University/College students. Through interactive classroom sessions or keynotes about what it takes to make a living as a writer, I educate audiences on the business, joys and reality of writing.
Superstar Sessions
We bring imagination to life by enabling creativity, artistic vision, and storytelling. Our mission is to create, produce, and deliver experiences for our audiences that live with them long after they’ve consumed our content.
Currently in production is Wallflower, a series about a shy teenage girl who is gifted a family heirloom that sparks the courage she needs to live life on her own terms.

Before collaborating with CRY, I didn't consider myself a writer. I just knew I had a story to tell, which I had occasionally done in writing. I met Kern and Safia early on in my recovery journey, in late 2020 or early 2021, shortly after deciding to quit my teaching career to pursue sobriety. First, as a published author, Kern pulled from his experiences to help me create a relevant book proposal to tell my story that has caught agents' attention. CRY could easily charge for their writing workshops and content and choose not to. Still, as an organization, it puts out a lot of high-value free opportunities for engagement because of its commitment to empowering writers and promoting storytelling. CRY's impact on my life as a writer has been priceless.

About the
Team
CRY Creative is founded by Kern Carter and Safia Bartholomew, two writers who are passionate about giving others a platform to share their truth.
Kern is a writer and author who has written and published three novels — Boys & Girls Screaming, Thoughts of a Fractured Soul and Beauty Scars. He is also a ghostwriter helping influencers pen books and connect with their audience.
